The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) represents an initiative by the federal government to dismantle financial obstacles hindering access to oral health care. This program is designed to extend coverage for dental expenses to Canadian residents lacking dental benefits, with household incomes below $90,000 annually.
This program offers dental coverage based on income, with the level of coverage determined by your financial situation. Please call or visit us with your CDCP details, and our team will be happy to explain your coverage.
We do not handle registration or eligibility for the CDCP plan. Please contact the CDCP hotline on 1-833-537-4342 (TTY: 1-833-677-6262) or visit a Service Canada office.
The CDCP does not cover all dental services and may not cover the treatment you need. As per the Government of Canada:
How often these procedures will be covered can be found at the website linked here: CDCP Guide. To enroll or renew: Canada.ca/dental
Yes. While it may state that you have 100% coverage – when you visit the Government of Canada’s website, it explains that this 100% coverage is only of the CDCP fees. There is a difference between CDCP fees and the Ontario Dental Association Fee Guide that we follow, and this difference must be covered by the patient.
We have been informed that the government is working to bridge this gap, but at this time, in order to be seen at our office, you must pay the difference.
Please request our staff to send pre-determinations to check coverage ahead of your appointment time. Should you choose to go ahead with treatment without a pre-determination (for example; you have broken a tooth and don’t want to wait as it is causing pain) if coverage is denied by CDCP/SunLife, you will be responsible for the full cost of treatment.
Simply give us a call and our front desk team will set up a convenient time for your appointment.
